AODA, Ergonomics, Disability Management
Jane Sleeth will present this 2 hour seminar to attendees in an effort to address the frequently encountered bias against the use of ergonomics in some workplaces. This bias is often due to a mistaken belief that ergonomics becomes a cost obligation with little tangible benefit on the part of Facility Managers, Real Estate, Human Resources and OH&S Professionals. Jane ill use recent and on going studies garnered over the last 23 years in office and administrative type environments to clearly show how to use of qualified, high level Ergonomics experts will lead and should always lead to a Return on the Investment over a reasonable period of time. Jane will describe when, why and how the use of qualified Ergonomists (which includes experts who do not represent lines of furniture, seating, equipment) is best used in the work environment; why to expect the Ergonomist to use only evidence based standards (Ministry of Labour for Ontario) in their analysis and how the Ergonomist should make recommendations with a capital cost only when based on this analysis and on written internal furniture, seating and equipment standards. Learning Objectives:
- Who is Certified and Qualified Ergonomic expert? Buyer Beware
- How to work with the consulting Ergonomist to bring about solid ROI’s on the investment
- When Furniture Standards should be developed and why these should be developed with the Ergonomist
- Why an ROI should be expected with each ergonomic assessment, training course, walk thru survey
